Jeff Butterfield
Trophy Pokal

The dream of Jeff Butterfield comes true ...

In 1985 the first ever great GO - Veteran rugby event took place on the soil of the "Mother England".

Jeff Butterfield (1929 - 2004), British Lion 1953/1955 (see Photo 1) and Tony Carter, Festival Director (Prisma Ltd) "brought" the 5th Air New Zealand World GO Rugby Festival to London (with148 teams from 22 countries and 4.523 participants).

The same year Jeff Butterfield and Marko Protega (Sports Dept. of Yugoslav Travel Agency "Dalmacijaturist" Split) started the initiative (both as the members of European Committee of Air New Zealand World International GOR Secretariat, Auckland),  to establish an European GOR organisation and to hold regularly European Festivals . . .

Now, 30 years after, in 2015 at the start of Rugby World Cup, Jeff´s dream of organising an European festival in "his" England comes true.

Farnham RUFC supported by Rugby Football Union and EVRA are organising European Festival, the first time ever in England.

The veterans from Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Senegal (as African guests), Spain, Sweden and England start on September 18th to play to "win" Jeff Butterfield Trophy (see Photo 2), the most precious award of the European festivals.
