Heidelberger Oldies Tournament 2016
As the part of Licor Beirao series of European Veteran Rugby Association - EVRA this Tournament have been organised in Heidelberg, the stronghold of German Rugby, each springtime already since several years.
2016 EU Series event organisers were Oldies of Heidelberger Ruderklub 1872.e.V, supported by TSV Oldies. Rugby veterans of the whole South Germany, from Bodensee to South Hessen, came to Heidelberg to "compete and show their tactical an technical knowhow" . . .
The Tournament took place at the brand new Wild Sports Centre, with theheated artificial grass playground, where recently HRK 1872. e.V. 1st XV won their 6th Championships title in the row.
This Tournament was the opportunity to express the great thanks to Alexander Wiedemann, HRK Operations Manager, Player and now Veteran, who stepped down from operating professional at the success of this oldest German rugby club.
Old Boys that were in age between 35 and 69, entartained their friends and relatives that came to share excellent rugby atmosphere once again . . .
Fair - Play, mutual respect and lot of Fun dominated the Event, but the "best of all" was veteran referee Hans Brauner, who led the game with the real veteran approach.The "third halftime" that followed in the evening, with lot of grilled specialities and plenty of beer, just "confirmed" oldies motto Fun&Friendship&Fraternity, that still "reigns" among these rugbymen.
The "celebration ended" early in the morning in the special "HRK Oldies Lounge",the room for special meetings of veterans.Vets from Konstanz, Stuttgart, Rottweil, Frankfurt and of course from three Heidelberg oldies teams (SCN 02, HRK 1872 and TSV 1949) were not "tired at all" to refresh their memories from more than 25 years ago . . .
EVRA Representative Wolfgang Mund (St. Ilgen - Rot) use the opportunity to present EU Series plagues to the host team leader Uwe Treiber and TSV Oldies captain Bernd Rau, usual present for the EVRA Tournament Organisers.
