IN HONOUR OF
SEVENS RWC 2013

Sevens Rugby World Cup held in Moscow was the occasion also for the Russian veterans to draw the attention on a lot of their activities.

On the LUZNIKI Stadium Vladimir Dorofeev & friends organised international tournament called “Cup for the Peace”.

About 250 veterans, in two age categories (35 – 49 and Over 50) took part at this big veteran event.

The following teams played for the “Cup Winner 2013”: Aeroflot-Spartak Dedy, Fili, Moscow Dragons, Slava Vets, Old Salmons, All Greens, Burevestnik (with two teams), Atlant Vets, Rostov – Papas, Lokomotiv Vets, Naljcik Vets (all Russia), The Wind Vets and Kiev Vets (Ukraine), Baikonur Vets and (Kazahstan).

This Tournament was also unofficial part of EVRA Licor Beirao European Sereis in connection with Sevens RWC 2013.

As the result of the co-operation with EVRA, Russian veteran clubs/teams will try next year to organize tournaments of their own and so to join the European veteran rugby activities in 2014 aiming to promote Rugby World Cup 2015 and the European Festival 2015, that will be organised parallel with this third biggest sports event in the World.

Two teams, FILI Moscow and The Papas from Rostov on Don, sent us the photos from the Moscow tournament to “measure the strength”, at least visually with their veteran players.
