100 years of
Rugby in Serbia

 


Last month in Belgrade rugby players and their friends had celebrated the Cenntenial of Rugby Football (Union code) in this small Balkan country.

The festivities begun with Extraordinary Annual Assembly of Rugby Union of Serbia, attended by many sports personalities among them also the Ambassador of United Kingdom in Belgrade...

The celebration started with the international Tournament "Mozzart Beogradski Pobednik 2018" (15 teams from eight countries among which also well known Heriot´s Scotland, in three different age categories took part and  the games had "finished" with a Veterans game that gathered players from many generations,  those " very young ones" (over 35 only) up to some grandfathers of over 76 !

Veterans of Ragbi Klub "Partizan" (the longest existing rugby club in Serbia, founded in 1953) contributed to this big celebration with founding the Veteran Team, under the leading of former internationals Milos Piletic , Alkesandar Jakisic and Marko Milosavljevic, Club General Secretary .

At the first international tournament that "Partizan" Vets participated was the Memorial "Zdenko Jajcevic" this in  May Zagreb, Croatia. (see photo)...

To each of the participants the special made "Centennial plaque" (see photo) had been presented to remember all... when Rugby had started a century ago...

On this unique occassion the Book "Tako su leteli srpski orlovi" - 100 godina Ragbija u Srbiji (author Slavisa Milenkovic) had been publicly presented (see photo)...
