11° MILANO RUGBY FESTIVAL

Festival of  Youth in Cernusco sul Naviglio, Milano
Milano Rugby Festival 2014 (also known as MRF) was a great success. The Festival (a five days affair) included: 7-a-side senior squads (men, ladies) and the 15-a-side veteran tournament. More than 20,000 people attended this five - days Event and over 23,000 liters of beer were served during the tournament.

At this year MRF, eight teams faced on veteran tournament: Sbagliati Old Velate, Chicken Rozzano, Coyotes Cernusco, Old Babbyons Settimo, Porc Parabiago, Old Blacks, B.old Cologno and the French team "Les VCO" from Melun.

The 20 matches were played with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship by all 200 participants, in the tradition and spirit of Veterans Rugby: Fun, Friendship and Fraternity. The veteran tournament was “won” by the French team "Les VCO" who “was better” in the final match than Sbagliati Velate. Brian Burrows, 66 years old from Heidelberg, was awarded by EVRA secretary Marko Protega as the oldest player of the tournament.

EVRA also awarded with the special made European Series plaques the Organisers – Old Rugby Cernusco, as well as the Town Mayor Eugenio Comincini. Moreover, we had the pleasure of hosting two well known Italian national team and Benetton Treviso players: Francesco Minto and Luca Morisi. During the tournament the charity initiative was organized to help the 3 years old child Jack who suffers from spastic quadriplegia. In addition MRF supports Telethon - Association that raises funds for research on genetic and rare diseases.
