The 15th of March is in Hungary the celebrating symbol of freedom . . . 1848 Revolution, followed by the Independence War against Austrians brought the freedom to Hungarian people. This day is still one of the most prominent National holidays . . .

Rugby contribution to the celebrities started on March 15th 1987 when the first Tournament had been held in Érd.
Exactly one year after, on March 15th 1988, Battai Bulldogs Rugby Club was founded keeping the celebration tradition alive until this year when this Tournament turned to be a "Veteran Cup“.

Hosted by "Final Station“ Battai Bulldog RFC Veterans in Száhalombata this year event gathered veteran rugby players from Kecskemét (KARC), Budapest (The Exiles), and Esztergom.

The real springtime day, sunny but no too warm was ideal for "old rugby boys“ who enjoyed playing their favourite game and the "third halftime“ with typical Hungarian food prepared on the open "Club fireplace“.

Preparing themself to host the 2nd EVRA European Festival in 2013, the next Hungarian Veteran Tournament will be in Esztergom, the host town of European Festival.   

Event under the name St. Istvan Veteran Cup (August 17 - 20th 2012) will be organisational test for the coming big European Festival in 2013.
