RUGBY AND PEACE
The organisers of the “Cities for Peace” Tournament write in their Invitation sent out all over the world: Rugby is all about “going backwards to move forward” and as the film Invictus shows Rugby was able to unite a country torn up by apartheid for decades. This “strength of Sports” is the proof of the potential that also Rugby has to build the Peace. This is the reason why we, Gernika Basurde Zaharrak (GBZ), want to
make our modest contribution to the culture of peace...
What more can EVRA do, with all its members and supporters, than to welcome the effort of GBZ Veterans and to invite teams to visit Gernika in two months time . . . each of them bringing “their part of that Contribution”.
