EVRA ANNUAL 2017 AWARD WENT TO MARSEILLE EUROPEAN SPORTS CAPITAL
Bandar Logs SMUC Veterans won this EVRA - Licor Beirao worthy prize . . .
Bandar Log Veterans (Photo) were founded in July 1980 as the part of Stade Marseillais Université Club (SMUC) under the slogan "We are great, we are free, we are wonderful, we are at most amazing people in the jungle - we all say it, so it must be true !"
Teams name itself came from Rudyard Kipling Jungle Book - Bandar Logs were destructive - udisciplined monkeys who kidnaped Mowgli wanting to become human beings . . .
Since seven years Bandar Log vets organize Thierri Marelli Trophy . . . in 2017 this Event was included, as the part of EVRA European Series, into the festivities programme of City of Marseille, that was nominated as the European Sports Capital.
The "real veteran rugby spirit" was the symbol of this traditional tournament from the very beginning . . . so it was the same also in 2017 - EVRA Executive Board had no doubt who should win this precious award.
Bandar Log Vets are the member of Union Francaise Ancient du Rugby (UFAR), the oldest and the biggest European Veteran Rugby Association, that organizes yearly, since 1976 "National UFAR Tournoi" - unofficial "French Veteran Rugby Championships".
SMUC Veterans joined E V R A in the season 2015/16 promoting this European Association in the South of France as well as the European Series, the "chain" of annual veteran events.
EVRA Annual Award presentation will take place in Marseille, on the occassion of the 8th edition of Thierri Marelli Trophy tournament, on February 24th 2018
