On EVRA initiative the first ever international veteran rugby tournament should have been organised in Belgrade (Serbia) on September 24th 2016.

Tournament organisers RC "Dragons", EVRA new member, supported by Serbian Rugby Union,  did all possible to attract some international teams to come. Unfortunately the "reaction" of the teams have not been as expected, so this Event "remained on national level" . . .

Veterans from all parts of Serbia (Nis, Beograd, Pancevo, Vrsac, Starcevo, Zarkovo) gathered on the sunny Saturday afternoon to play "an international veteran game".

Five Romanian vets from Euromcosntruct Old Rugby (Bucharest) - Ciocionoiu Adrian, Emanuel Sandu (both Grivita Rosia), Suciu Eduard, Capusanu Ion (both Steaua Bucuresti) and Bucheru Luciano (Euromconstruct) drew alltogether 1,300 km to come to Belgrade and play this friendly game! This is the true Rugby spirit . . .

From the present players two teams had been made - Serberians (the younger ones) and Euromconstruct mixed Team (the older ones) that showed all what our sport has to show - fairness, respect, friendship . . . and of course some "moves" from the younger days.

The game was whistled by Dejan Stiglic (Belgrade), international rugby referee, who said shortly after the end "It was a pleasure for me to be the part of this special match".

At the "Farewell Dinner" the President of Serbian Rugby Union Stevan Ilijasevic,  Milos Milutinovic, President of RC "Dragons" and Marko Protega, EVRA Secretary thanked all the players for taking part at this "first organised veteran rugby step in Serbia"and expressed the wish that 2017 Tournament get really into the EVRA European Series - the chain of veteran rugby tournaments, only this year 59 in very different parts of Europe.

Special EVRA EU Series plagues had been presented to the "Dragons" RC, Euromconstruct Old Rugby Buchurest and to the Rugby Union of Serbia.
