RUGBY IS A GLORIOUS GAME
EVRA new member I Passatelli from Ravenna (Italy) had successfully organised their 2nd Summer Old Rugby Tournament with the participation of eight teams from France and Italy.
Nicola Scanferla, one of Ravenna rugby veterans and the Chief of ”Passatelli Haka” sent us the following “report” from Punta Marina, nice tourist resort at the Adriatic coast, where the Tournament had been played on two excellent pitches of local Stadio Comunale “Giuseppe Cavalucci”.
“Rugby is made of glorious teams, epic campaigns and young warriors with stout bodies . . .”
Well, if someone had passed through Ravenna and more precisely through Punta Marina on May 31st , he could have realised that the above sentence was somewhat incomplete . . .
Ravenna hardly qualifies in Italy for its ancient rugby tradition. Nonetheless, it has been the place where many “lovers of this sport” have been able to engage in encounters that awakened their bodies and souls.
We are refereeing to the second edition of I Passatelli tournament organised in a traditional Old – Veteran Rugby spirit.
Veterans from Torino (Highlanders), Firenze (I Ribolliti), Sesto Fiorentino (Panze Ovali), Rovato – Brescia, Prato (Allupins) and Pesaro arrived to Ravenna bringing their joy, friendship and great enthusiasm.
Ravenna was also honoured with the presence of Les Farios , French friends from L´Isle sur la Sorgue in Provence, who arrived to Italy to give additional luster to the tournament.
