EVRA Game in Bavaria

The first EVRA Game in Bavaria

1st May weekend holiday in Munich (Englischer Garten in Studenten Stadt) was combined Veteran - Youth celebration day. Munich Old Boys - MOBs, led by their captain Gareth Lumb and the Italians from Ravenna - I Passatelli Old Rugby Club (group fo 70 persons!) led by Marco Ciuoffo showed to quite great number of visitors - parents "what Rugby can be at the age Over 35".

On the other side Under 16 players from Stusta RFC, Fürstenfeldbruck RFC, Unterforhing RFC, Munich RFC and the Italian team, playing Seven a Side game, excited all with the capabilities and williness  that the youngsters have.

This first ever EVRA veteran game the Oldies played in Bavaria (Bayern) was not just "soft" as used to be . . . to "blame" is the Englishman Andrew Bridger who is Bayern Rugby Union referee, with no experience with Veteran - Golden Oldies  rugby rules. It was not the "easy job" form him this time . . .

To remember on that first game ever EVRA presented to both team captains, at the begin of the match, the special made Licor Beirao European Series plagues.

The "special guests" for this occassion were Gordon King and Patrick Garethy, two founders of MOBs in 1994 to play in Heidelberg at the European Festival the same year.
