MEMORIAL RUGBY

MEMORIAL RUGBY DAY IN UDINE

Veteran Tournament in this Italian town has the long tradition . . .  the first one under the name "City of Udine" had been organised in 1981 to honour the players of previous generations.

In 2015 Urogalli Rugby Old Club changed the name of Torneo into "Memorial Day" with the intention to widen it and to invite in the same time, Italian and the teams from abroad that are having simmilar memorial events, to "exchange the participation" in the future . . .

2016 Memorial event, under perfect wheather, playing and organisational conditions, took place in Udine at the beginning of June . . .  with the participation of  Selezione Tandoi FVG, Old Rugby Pagnacco, Old Boys Hungary and Urogalli hosting team.

Great fighting spirit of all teams could not "spoil" the main reason of the existence of veteran sports - "Friendship, Fraternity and Sportsmanship" and as the Main organiser Sergio Bracci said at the end: "It was a good day for Rugby".

In the name of EVRA the host Club was presented with European Series plague, as well as the Oldest Memorial Player - original Udinese , Carlo Minen (76),  famous scrumhalf of  Udine Rugby, some 50 years ago (see enclosed articles Minen & Bracci).

Now as the veteran Carlo plays for Urogalli Rugby Old team . . .
