In BAIRRADA the Land of wine and pork...
Bairrada region is known for the excellent wines, grilled pork and in the centre of it is the small town of Moita is traditional rugby club with very active veterans.
This year they organised for the 9th time International Veteran Tournament as the part of Licor Beirao European Series with the participation of teams from Spain (Salamanca RC and Lalin RC), France (Les Sahoutos), Italy (Capitolina Roma Old Rugby) and Portugal (Academica and Agraria from Coimbra, CRAV Arcos de Valdevez, Old Greens – CDUP Porto, CRA Évora, Lousa RC Vets and Moita Veteranos).
In spite of the rain, but under the mild temperature and on the excellent pitches of Town Sports Centre all veterans enjoyed playing almost the whole day, “preparing” themselves for unique “third halftime” that took place in the Town Public Hall.
Awarding ceremony, “accompanied” by the town musicians brought all to the “peak of the entertainment” late in the night...
In the name of EVRA José Redondo and Marko Protega presented special plaques of Licor Beirao European Series to the Town Mayor and to the Rugby Moita President, José Carlos Martins.
With EVRA Official jersey the Oldest Tournament Player - Paulo Santiago (66) from the local veteran team, had been awarded “for the long service” to the Rugby sports.
