The Catholic Priest, a Rugby player...

From the earliest movements of the “warm – up” exercises Don Vincenzo dispelled any possible doubt about his knowledge of the Game. On the field he was always at the right place, at the right time, what he did out of it too (Photo 4)... under the black cassock was hiding “Rugby Player of 100%”.

During his playing career he "earned" as the flanker, the name of “Fr. Flanker of Providence” (“Don terza linea della Providenza”), familiarly called “Fr. Tackle” (“Don Placcaggio”), being known, and still is, for hard and brave tackles (Photo 2).

Among the various activities that we would never thought to be inherent in Rugby, there was also the Mass in the chapel of the Hospital for the Ravenna Rugby and its Old Rugby team.

The president of liturgy for the celebration of the Holy Mass was evidently “Fr. Tackle”, the altar boy to serve during the Mass was the Coach Enio and readings and offerings for the Mass was doing by the present players (Photo 5). For all those religious this was like a “God’s miracle” for the start of the new season...

The small “miracles” like this one, when the Sport combines the spirits, bodies and the hearts, and in Ravenna even the souls, had “proved” once again that RUGBY has no limits…
